Active Underwood 

Active Underwood CIC is a community organisation a community organisation set to help improve services availably in Underwood and surrounding areas. Amongst their various activities they also manage the Barbells Community Gym which is located in the annex to Underwood Community Centre. Further information can be found at the link above.

Bishon Village Hall Association

Bishton Village Hall Association is a charitable group that was formed, in agreement with Bishton Community Council, to manage events at The Old School House (OSH), (formerly known as Bishton Village Hall). For information about the BVHA or to book an event send a message using the link above.

Little Ones (formerly Mums and Tots)

As the name suggest this group offers mums and tots the opportunity to get together in Underwood Community Centre. It runs every Monday and Wednesday between 9.30am and 12.00am. The group is organised by Trudy. 

Youth Club

This club is run by Newport City Council in Underwood Community Centre. It is held every Wednesday between 4.30 pm and 7.30pm. There is an extensive range of activities available for the youth of Underwood. 

Llanmartin Ladies

This group meets every Wednesday between 2.00pm and 4.00pm in Underwood Community Centre. It gives the participants the opportunity for a regular informal social meeting. The group is organised by Jan. 

Quiz Night

The quiz takes place every Monday at Underwood Community Centre between 8.00pm and 11pm. There is a wide range of questions to test and challenge. It is open to all. The organisers are Anne Marie and Collette. 

Senior Citizens Club

This group offers the Senior Citizens of the area an opportunity to meet up on a regular basis with people of their own age. It is held at Underwood Community Centre every Tuesday between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. The organiser is June Thornton. 

Chance Meetings Wales 

Chance Meetings Wales  is a social group aimed at adults with additional needs or health conditions aged 18 years and above. Our aims are to give our members a chance to socialize, make new friends and try new activities. Chance meetings Wales can be contacted through the link above. The organisers are Gwen and Kerry.

Babes in the Wood

Babes in the Wood is a Registered Educational Provider for 3 and 4 year old children. It is based in a purpose built unit for which they have sole use. The unit is situated in the grounds Llanmartin School. It has secure enclosed gardens with access to the school yard. Babes in the Wood boasts a highly qualified staff and they are able to take children with special dietary requirements or children with a disability. They offer “wrap around” care which means that a breakfast club, a lunch club and an after school club are available. They are open during school terms and in holidays. Babes in the Wood is open five days week from Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 6.00pm. Bishton Church Project Group

This group was set up to promote and develop wider engagement with the community. It holds monthly planning meetings and distributes a monthly newsletter to all houses in the village of Bishton. It has a Facebook page: Friends of Bishton. This contains further information and pictures of events held in the village. The group has held a number of events to realise its aims including: Bishton Village Past and Present Day; New Year’s Eve village party; Easter Egg Hunt; It’s a Knock Out. There are currently two events in the planning stage of a village Nativity Play and a Christmas Lunch for the villagers of Bishton.
