Fly Tipping

BISHTON COMMUNITY COUNCIL WELCOMES ACTION AT LAST ON FLY TIPPING BUT MORE NEEDED !

In September 2017 NCC installed two “horse gates” to deter fly tipping in a well-known “black spot” - the bridleway linking Bishton Road and St Cadwaladr’s Church. This followed a long campaign by Bishton Council. One of the new gates is pictured below. However the Council is concerned by further "black bag" fly tipping between Llanwern and Bishton, and a very unpleasant example of this constant menace in Wilcrick in mid-September ( also shown below). The Council takes part in the Gwent Levels Fly Tipping project team meetings which have drawn up a proposal to obtain National Lottery funding under the “Living Levels “ Landscape Partnership Programme. Councillors are hoping for good news about this project before the end of 2017.
